By Carolyn Marnon – Gone are the days when a child wore their costume just on Halloween.  Wayne and the surrounding area will help any child get the most wear out of their fantastic costume this year.
Get the low-down here!

Any Night in October
Cruise on over to Gertrude Street, east of Howe Rd in Wayne and admire the home of Larry Reid. This display will delight revelers young and old.  It was designed by 8-year old Ryan Reid. Larry Reid has put up a Halloween display for the past ten years, but he says Ryan is now the brains behind the display.  They do it for all the kids.  They’ve never had any problems with anyone tampering with the display.  “The kids here respect me,” says Larry.  Nestled among the lifelike figures is a sports display, the brainchild of Ryan, to make the yard look less scary-hockey sticks, balls (soccer, football, basketball, baseball), baseball bats, golf clubs and a nod to the Wolverines.
There are lights and fog streaming near the piano where Larry or Ryan can serenade you with a tune if they are outside.  This is their way of giving back to their community. It’s worth a visit any night up through Halloween.

As with all things, be sure to practice good safety when out on Halloween.  Travelling in groups, carrying flashlights, staying on sidewalks, crossing only at marked crosswalks and not going inside homes are all common sense strategies to make the night safe for all.If you are out driving on Halloween, be extra cautious. No one wants to hit a little ghost or goblin or fairy princess because they didn’t expect them to suddenly be in front of them.
With all the activities, it is sure to be a sweet Halloween!
