Seven candidates file for Wayne City Council race
The race for the City of Wayne City Council is officially underway, with seven candidates filing to run for three available four-year council seats in the 2026 election cycle.
The candidates who have officially filed are:
• Alfred Brock
• Kathy Lawrence
• Brett Macek
• DeVincent A. McFarlin
• Mathew P. Mullholland
• Donald L. Quarles
• Shannon Rochon
Because seven candidates filed for the three available seats, the City of Wayne will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The primary will reduce the field by one candidate, with the remaining six candidates advancing to the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Voters in the November election will select three candidates to serve four-year terms on the Wayne City Council.
The election is expected to draw strong community interest as residents consider the future direction of the city, including economic development, neighborhood improvements, public safety, infrastructure investment, parks and recreation, and continued collaboration with local businesses and community organizations.
City officials are encouraging residents to stay informed throughout the campaign season and participate in both the primary and general elections.
Additional information regarding voter registration, absentee voting, and polling locations is available through the Wayne City Clerk’s Office or online through the State of Michigan voter information portal.
