Island Party Movie Night

By Sarah Shurge – Kick-off the summer right with Wayne’s annual Kick-Off to Summer — Island Party Movie Night.
“While the event is traditionally held in beautiful Goudy Park, ongoing amphitheater improvements have made it necessary to pause summer programming at that location,” said Lisa Kubany, Wayne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Marketing and Events Director. “This year we’re moving just down the road to a new location, and we’re still set for a magical night under the stars.”
The movie night location has been moved to the Wayne Historical Museum (1 Towne Square) and Hillcrest Bible Church on Friday, June 6th, from 5 – 9:30 p.m.
Parking will be at the Metro Plaza Mall, and surrounding parking on Main St. and Newberry St. Biddle Street will be blocked and closed for this event.
From 5 -7 p.m. there will be a live dance party with DJ Lutali from The Dance Academy, games, prizes, and three different food trucks: Fat Man Nok’s, I Told You Food Truck, and Kona Ice. There will be free popcorn and cookies (while supplies last).
The movie night is Hawaiian themed, so be sure to wear your favorite island attire and bring a few lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
The movie, Moana 2, will start at 7:15 p.m. The movie screen will be set up in the First Congregational church parking lot, and guests will be seated comfortably on the lawn of the Museum, facing the screen.
“As the Event Director, I’m most looking forward to seeing all of the families and their friends take over the downtown square — laughing, playing, and dancing together as we kick off another great summer in Wayne,” said Kubany.
Be sure to kick-off the summer right by attending the Island Party Movie Night!
