Wayne Public Library is now open on Mondays!
The Wayne Public Library, 3737 S. Wayne Rd, Wayne, MI 48184 is going to be opening on Mondays again starting in September! The library started closing on Mondays in 2009 to cut costs, so it has been 13 years! The new hours will be:
Monday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Friday – Saturday: Noon – 5 p.m.
Closed Sunday

Wayne Public Library used book bag sale
The Friends of the Wayne Public Library is hosting a Used Book Bag Sale on Saturday, September 17, from Noon until 4 p.m. You can take home a bag of used books for just $5!

Are you ready for the fall harvest season or for Halloween?
The Wayne Public Library is hosting several seasonal events for adults and kids. The list below includes events that adults might enjoy. See the library website for additional events kids may enjoy.

DIY Spooky Décor Monday, October 3 – 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Turn regular books and bottles into spooky seasonal décor. The antique, weathered look will instantly give your place haunted mansion vibes. Adults only.

Pumpkin Decorating Saturday, October 15 – 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.- Decorate a foam pumpkin with all sorts of craft materials to make your own unique creation! Scary, artistic, or cute—it’s up to you! All ages welcome.

Candy Corn Experiments Saturday, November 5 – 1 – 2 p.m. – You don’t have to like candy corn to do some fun science experiments with these leftover candies. Join in to make catapults to launch candy corn pumpkins, dissolve them in different liquids, and more! All ages welcome.
Fundraising Harvest Tea Saturday, November 19 – 1 – 3 p.m. – Support the Friends of the Library and enjoy a lovely afternoon tea. Sip your favorite tea, enjoy some bite-sized treats, chat with friends, and maybe even win a raffle basket. Tickets are $40 each and will be on sale starting in October at the library’s circulation desk.

St. Mary Church to celebrate police fire and first responders
Please join St. Mary’s Catholic Church as it says, “thank you” and honors the dedicated service of police, fire and first responders in Wayne and its neighboring communities of Westland and Inkster.
There will be a Mass on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception at St. Mary Catholic Church, 34530 Michigan Ave, Wayne. For more information, call the church at (734) 721-8745.
